Yuno Cho 

I am an architectural and urban designer working at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and urban research. I received my Master of Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, following an M.S. in Architecture from Seoul National University and a B.Arch from Korea National University of Arts.

My research focuses on how the incremental transformation of individual buildings shapes the capacity of existing cities to accommodate change. Drawing from urban history, urban morphology, and spatial analysis, I examine how building form, material, use, and parcel structure influence the ways existing buildings are modified and reused over time, and how these changes accumulate into broader transformations of urban fabric. My previous research on the transformation of existing urban areas in Seoul provides a starting point for this inquiry.

In particular, I am interested in tracing how successive building modifications respond to changing social and economic needs while interacting with the physical conditions of existing urban fabric. Through this research, I seek to understand the conditions under which incremental architectural change contributes to or constrains urban resilience, and how this understanding can inform the adaptation and design of existing urban environments.
